Musical Theater Dance Camp
July 18 - July 22, 2011
9:30 am – 3:30 pm

This camp for 5 -12 year old children builds upon the format of our “open” dance camps by integrating a musical theater theme into our activities.  Our technique classes, drama exercises, choreography and even some of our arts and crafts will be inspired by Broadway favorites including “The Lion King,”  “Annie,” “Cats,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” and many other terrific shows!

Some of the areas we will explore at camp include:

Drama and improvisation
Theater Movement
Tap dance and rhythm
Ballet and basic dance technique
Arts and crafts
Tumbling
Jazz dance and hip-hop
Performance variation

No dance experience is required.  Dancers will be placed in technique classes based on their technical skill level on the first day of class. 

Instructors:   
Camps will be taught by members of AADC regular teaching staff with some guest instructors. 

Attire:  
Dancers should wear a leotard with tights/shorts.  Hair must be securely fastened.  Dancers must have ballet or jazz shoes.  Tap shoes are recommended but not required.

Lunch: 
Dancers bring their own sack lunch daily.  Bottled water is available for $1.00.  

Performance: 
All dancers will participate in an in-studio performance on Friday at 3:00 pm.  Family and friends are welcome.

Fees:
The fee for the camp is $275.00.  This fee includes tuition and all materials costs.

Drop-off / Pick-up: 
Dancers may be dropped off as early as 9:10 and must be picked up no later than 3:45. 

Note:  Dance space is not air-conditioned, but break room and arts & crafts rooms are air-conditioned.

Fairy Princess Dance Camp
July 18 - July 22, 2011
9:30 am - 12 noon

This camp for 3 and 4 year old girls includes basic instruction in ballet, creative movement, and rhythm.  We will dance to the music of “Sleeping Beauty,”  we will enjoy a “Mermaid Adventure,”  we will create fairy wings, decorate crowns, magicwands and other fun crafts!

Our daily agenda:
9:30 -  9:45                Welcome, Warm-up & stretch
9:45 - 10:15               Ballet
10:15 - 10:30             Break & Snack
10:30 - 11:00             Creative Movement & Rhythm
11:00 - 11:30             Arts & Crafts
11:30 - 12:00             Dance “Rehearsal”


On Friday at 11:30, parents can join us as we perform the
Princess Dances that we have learned throughout the week!

Attire
Suggested attire is a dance leotard with a skirt or shorts and ballet shoes with socks.  Any play clothes are acceptable.
 
Fees
The fee for the camp is $155.00.  This fee includes tuition, snacks, and all materials costs.

Dance space is not air-conditioned, but break room and arts & crafts rooms are air-conditioned.

YDE Summer Dance Intensives
